Every child and young person that is engages at ZW Media is able to take part in all activities with the knowledge that they are protected from harm. ZW Media has made it paramount that taking care of young people and safeguarding their welfare is essential in the development of the community and a reasonable step towards protecting its interest.
ZW Media will ensure the safety and protection of children and young people through adherence to the child protection procedures and systems. These procedures and policies promote practices and services that protect children from physical, sexual or emotional harm with emphasis on neglect and bullying, by creating a safe environment by incorporating an effective rigorous recruitment policy that assesses suitability to work with children and access to complaint procedures.
ZW Media will:
Accept the moral and legal responsibility to implement procedures.
Respect and promote the rights, wishes and feelings of children and disadvantaged adults.
Recruit, train and supervise staff to adopt best practice in order to safeguard and protect young people from abuse, and themselves from false allegations.
Ensure that all staff adopt and abide by our Code of Conduct and Ethics, which are in line with Child Protection Policy and Procedures.
Respond to complaints, concerns and allegations and implement the appropriate disciplinary and appeals procedures.
The policy, procedures and systems set out in this document are mandatory for all staff whose employment involves working with children in a paid or unpaid capacity on behalf of ZW Media. It is the responsibility of all members of ZW Media to ensure the protection of children and young people and show respect and understanding for the rights, safety and welfare of children, and conduct themselves in a way that reflects the principles and philosophy of ZW Media.
Child Protection information is available to all. ZW Media’s policy and complaint/feedback mechanisms shall be communicated to parents and organisations that have an interest in safeguarding children that are engaged with us.
Our child protection policy, procedures and systems are supported by The Children Act 1989, Working Together To Safeguard Children 1999, Waltham Forest Children & Young people Strategy 2011 – 2015, London Child Protection Procedures 2003 and UN Conventions on the Rights of the Child. ZW Media shall forward concerns to the appropriate agencies and we ensure that we work under the guidance of the Area Child Protection Committee/Local Safeguarding Children Board. The welfare of the child is paramount.
Our policy and procedures are embedded in all activities at ZW Media and apply to all children and young people regardless of:

We ensure that all our policy and procedures are in line with our Equal Opportunities Policy. A child or young person is defined as anyone under 18 (The Children Act 1989) and the principles of child protection apply to all peoples over the age of 18. All children and young people have an equal right to protection, and the needs of disabled people and others who may be particularly vulnerable must be taken into account at all times.
The aim of ZW Media’s Child Protection Policy is to develop a positive and pro-active position in order to:
· Create a safe environment,
· Promote systems of good practice,
· Protect children and staff, and
· Allow staff to take informed responses to specific child protection issues.
ZW Media’s designated person in charge of child protection is the Project Manager who is responsible for the implementation of child protection procedures and systems, and liaison with the relevant social services departments, police and other agencies concerning child protection issues. The Project Manager is responsible to the Board.
